Chip Dubrovsky

Charles “Chip” Dubrovsky is a happy-go-lucky frat brother at Drexel University in Philadelphia, on a pre-med track but hoping to get out of it. By day, he lives in front of his computer when he’s not in class, or playing 3 on 3 basketball on the Deltas’ half-court. He works four nights a week, full shifts, at the Inferno Pizza Parlor just off-campus. It’s not the best job, but having worked his way up to assistant manager and still getting a stipend from the Arabian Horse Association (thanks to his Dad) based on his participation with the Steeplechase team in the summers, he’s paying his own way, mostly, through school.

Chip usually affects the demeanor of a good-time jock, but actually has a pretty sensitive side that he sometimes lets show, usually when he’s trying to get a date. He’s impressed more than one Gamma pledge with his knowledge of English romantic verse - mostly cadged from a single literature course his sophomore year.

Still, he’s a sucker for “pain” comedy - Jackass videos, The Three Stooges on Sunday morning TV, YouTubes of skateboarders doing face plants. And of course, being single and 21 and in a frat, he also checks out lots of sports and lots of girls, in every medium available. He teases his little brother a lot, mostly about his shyness.

His most important Lesson Learned: “To avoid a hangover, drink three extra glasses of water and take three aspirin before you go to bed.”

On his iPod: U2, Jay-Z, Blink-182, Green Day, and most of the cuts from a “Yacht Rock” compilation CD for ‘chill time with my lady’.

When Chip is occasionally able to participate in a Big Friday gig, he freestyles as a rapper over their endless, spiraling beats, and his sets are usually highlighted by his delivery of a grooving version of “Bust a Move” over Gordon and Tara’s galloping percussion.
